[1.0.11] give us "wired" automation!
no, not like electricity. maybe ropes pulling sticks or something. but to start, it would be nice to have range limitations and a way to show physical connection, as well as daisy chain a connection.
unfortunately, i realize that daisy chaining could be somewhat complicated, especially for multi-input devices... but figure i should ask.
the relay has a passthrough option that seems rather.... lackluster? i mean i guess i could use it as a streetlamp, but logic wise it's kinda... eh...
wireless can come into play later as a research unlock, similar to bot job unlocks

I suggested this in two other places as well already. Wireless feels totally out of place in Timberborn since everything else is manifestly physical.
– Make automation building connections fundamentally function like ziplines – connections are drawn (not built), limited range, can be extended with specialized buildings.
– Default range could be 10-20 tiles/meters. Wires connect on top of buildings, connections must not be obstructed.
– Introduce wire pole building (similar to zipline pylon) to extend range and route connections over existing buildings.
– Make wires visually unobtrusive so as not to add too much graphical noise. (But some is welcome to encourage restraint and thoughtful placement!)
– If still deemed too noisy, consider underground wires for basic connections (non-blocking) and poles only for extensions over larger distances.
"WiFi" should just not exist. Only HTTP Adapter makes sense as a metaphor for an interface to the non-game world. -

deejay4amThis would mesh well with my suggestion "Automation should not have been magic computers". I've suggested that, at least in early automation, the *beavers themselves* should be doing the automation tasks (like running to the valves to manually close them, etc). I did suggest they could signal each other with stuff like horns or semaphore flags, but I also like this.
The relay is one of the most powerful objects in the game, allowing you to set up logic for your automation. Have a closer look! (unless i'm misunderstanding what you mean about it)
