Reaction speed confusion with new valves
I setup some valves to control badtides and set the reaction speed to 20%, thinking that'd be 20% as fast as normal, ie take 5× the time. Instead, it was really, really slow.
Poked around further and it seems reaction speed is exponential AND maybe non-linear near 0 m³/s flow.. which is good. I like that behaviour.
To fix the confusion I request the label be replaced with "Reaction time: 4 hours", as I can directly map that to in-game water behaviour.

RobertI would also agree that the meaning of the 'Reaction speed' number is needlessly opaque.
For 'fast' reactions it is possible to calculate it by hand (I took the liberty of peeking at the implementation), ~2x slower at 91%, ~4x slower at 83%, etc, but the double Lerp really makes it impractical the slower you want it.
In addition to the suggestion by Adam, another possibility for change in my opinion could be to let 'Reaction speed' simply set the increment of the flow limit per tick while opening/closing in m^3/s units.
This would ofcourse be linear, but at least more straightforward to tune and to understand. -

Doug MergedThe UI showing the valve position on the Flow control valve and the Height control valve is quite subtle and difficult to pick out. Also the flow control valve, it is difficult to understand the time frame that the "Reaction rate" operates on. Is 100% equal to operating the valve at 10% per second? So that would mean that 1% reaction rate means the valve operates at 1% every 10 seconds? Some clarity on that would be helpful.
