Gamma (Brightness) slider or some way making it easier to see at night (too dark)
Trying to plan buildings during the night can be a little hard to see, even just making it brighter when the build menu is open would be nice.

Niels van der Rest MergedWhenever night falls, I am almost unable to see what is going on with my PC screen.
It is just too dark! I don't want to faceplant my face onto my screen to see my game.
I've included a screenshot where I just started out (first night).
Either give me the option to adjust night light level, display a permanent area light glow at the cursor location or something better. -

Tyler Parker MergedA QOL feature that some people may want is an option to not have the daylight cycle on and have it showing day all the time. The game will still go through the day night cycle but will appear day. I would like this because when I play this game, the night cycles are too dark and sun glare hits my laptop so I cannot see anything. Great game guys!

TheGroomedGamer MergedIt is really difficult to do anything during the night cycle (plan stuff out) due to the night cycle being so dark. I couldn't find anything in the settings to make it lighter

giacomo MergedIt would be nice to take away the dark mode for night, so that you don't have to squint while playing in a bright room

larksieI wonder if you can track how many times people try to turn their brightness up during the night cycle — it's way too dark to see enough to build things. Perhaps increasing brightness (and maybe contrast?) but lowering saturation and/or colour temperature would create a better base brightness level for nighttime, while still feeling like night? But an option to manually adjust to custom settings would also be great (though seems more complicated).
Full disclosure, I wear glasses (though my low-light vision with glasses is no worse than anyone else's) and am playing on a laptop (small screen). I don't think either of those should make it impossible to plan builds while my beavers are sleeping though. -

Alex MergedI play at the highest speed and the short amount of time between day and night is obnoxious. Mostly because I'm trying to do things and it gets so dark and low contrast I can't see what I'm setting up very well. I do wish the day/night cycle was longer but I also understand that it's short because of the speed I play at. However, it'd probably be a nice compromise if it wasn't so dark during it. Love the game btw! Thank you it's a ton of fun I just spent like 5hrs straight playing it :grimacing:

Belinda MergedSuggest to make night time less dark, makes it difficult to build and see where you are. Perhaps a toggle so you can see what you are doing at night.

Noissar MergedI find it extremely hard to see while it is night time. It is mostly my setup that amplifies the issue (using a projector), that said the Day Time is almost perfect to the point I can not even offer a suggestion. The night on the other hand... it is like someone slapped the moon and it is sulking in the corner.
a 1 - 5 night time illumination setting would be loved.
Colourblind priority would be nice, but that is a far more niche request that while slightly bothersome is not as frustrating as not being able to see at ll for a few mins at a time.
May the Moon Shine. -

Mithmort MergedI had previously upvoted a suggestion about "fog", but I took that back after playing with that toggle in dev console. "Fog" doesn't seem to be what's causing me issues (it only seems to make everything less vibrant, day or night).
My beavers spend their first cycles running nearly 24/{however-many-days-there-are-in-a-cycle}, so I spend of lot of time managing them in the night. Even later game I'm doing this and that while they goof off or sleep. Brats. ;)
I find it very hard to see things on the screen when it darkens -- brown against brown against brown becomes a mass of nearly indistinguishable items (just wait, you'll have old eyes some day).
So I up my computer's brightness, then comes day and it's too bright, and/or I ctrl-tab to any other program on my computer and am blinded by the brightness, so I'm constantly finding myself adjusting the brightness on my computer.
A settings slider to control how dark night gets in comparison to day could make that all go away -

BcowI don't have a high quality monitor and I find it difficult to build during the in-game night. I also watch a streamer who plays timberborn and they say playing during the in-game night is challenging because they have the added handicap of having lights in their face and so they need very bright settings to see. They would prefer to skip night altogether.
Perhaps an option to go in to "build mode" when the game is paused where one can choose to have it be daytime to see if you are placing things correctly? Either that or a lower contrast between day and night so when you adjust screen brightness for the game it will work for both cycles and won't be jarring at top speed. -

Luke MergedI've been struggling to see what I'm building when the night cycle starts. The dimness level is murder on the eyes. An option to set the percentage of time that night cycles should last would give players more time to queue up construction projects. Also a setting for night cycle darkness could be helpful.
The alternative approach now is to speed everything up to skip the night cycles. But this can start to feel tedious, and the game tends to ramp up its processing needs once the beavers wake up. Having a slider in the settings panel to extend or shorten daylight hours would let the player avoid micromanaging the night cycle speed and would be easier on the eyes. -
