Grocery store, Marketplace, Food court, Bazaar, hub for central food+water distribution
Instead of having beavers running all over the place to get food and water, can you design a Marketplace shop to centrally locate those items? You can have 1 or 2 beavers as workers to restock the items as necessary, and allow 50 or 100 of each item to be stocked there (depending on Marketplace size (you could have two variants). Thanks for listening.

David C Bollingeryou could just add a small water storage and small warehouse to your city center.
Or you could have an adorable little beaver store. Maybe a 2x2, and make it solid, so that you can easily integrate it into building complexes? If you wanted to make it more useful, you could also have it so that it can combine a bread, a carrot, a grilled potato, and 3 units of water into 3 meals that satisfy all 3 nutritions, hunger, and thirst at the same time.
Honestly, I'd do it just for aesthetics, though, and to use up some of my unemployed. -

anton- The problem can be solved by having warehouses with food only in the living district.
- I like the idea of a cafe. Becuse it can be an adorable building. That the beavers communication bonus and enchansing the food effects. The more types of food and knowlwdge you have, the biggre is the food enchansement effect.
- The next idea is food delivery. Cafe workers or haulers can deliver food to the houses so beavers could eat at home. -

Emiel MergedIn the last update a bunch of food types have been added :) You can distribute those using warehouses, but balancing that in large towns turns a bit finicky. Perhaps a grocery store can be added to handle the distribution and small scale storage of food.
The grocery store would employ 1 to 2 beavers whose only task it is to gather food and water from storage locations to the store, where beavers can then pick it up from. It would nicely separate the life-essential food+water distribution chain from the industrial goods distribution.
Food can still be stored in warehouses, but then you can use those for bulk storage. -

Tazilon MergedAt the moment, beavers collect all kinds of goods, consumables, etc in warehouses. And they go get them from warehouses. We need markets: Grocers for food and food supplies. Lodge Depot for building/construction materials.

Altayr NetoA market could be used as a distribuition center (while the storage is used to storing)
Or the market could be used as a special storage type, but which also satisfies the social need! -

MUHAMMAD DZULKARNINE BIN UMARwhat if for folktails factions is called cafe and for iron teeth is called canteen. employ 2-3 beavers at 1 time and their tasked is to stock up the cafe or canteen with every food available in the storage unit. beavers will not be permitted to access the warehouse rather they satisfy their hunger and thirst at cafe or canteen. this way we can satisfy every food needs cause example my warehouse got 4-5 types of food but in the happiness index only 2 or 3 types of foods indicators were fulfilled.

Brandon Mergedinstead of the beavers obtaining food from warehouses there should be one singular building such as a "marketplace" that would be tasked with gathering all of the different varieties of food from the various districts so the beavers will have easier access to a balanced diet to improve the overall health

Adam OlsenI love the visual of an outdoor café but there's a mechanical issue this solves as well: well-being of children. They have lots of free time so they fill up recreation needs quite quickly but can only eat one kind of food at a time, so they must wait until hungry to try the next. A café could combine all food types into a single meal, immediately hitting the well-being goals and allowing the colony to max out (which players want).
An sit-down outdoor restaurant also has limited slots, forcing beavers to spread out and not empty a single building before moving on to the next. -

KevinI think a cool detail to add to the marketplace would that it is, by default, rather empty. But as new foods become available, little stalls pop up representing the foods!
Mechanically, I picture it as being a 3x3 non-sturdy structure manned by 2-3 beavers that get a hauling boost. It would really reduce the need for multiple warehouses in your town center. -

FluffyVixen MergedCategory: district management. Folktales exclusive.
In-game description: a handy place for your beavers to get supplies.
Flavor text: although beavers lacks any form of currency they like the feeling of cozy and loud place to trade produce and share gossips.
What it is: A large (5x5) building with 4 path connections. Stores 300 water and 50 of each other consumable, including books and antidote. Employs "merchant" beavers who haul supplies to the marketplace, each increase the capacity by 50 (100 for water) to a maximum of 900 water and 300 of each other consumables. Also +1 social life wellbeing. Beavers always prefer to eat, drink and get books at the marketplace. Only 1 can be built per district.
Looks: A flat square marketplace with medium tank in the centre and road connections at each side.
Why do we need this?: Nice to have a centralized building for beavers to satisfy needs instead of making the faraway warehouses/tanks. Good to satisfy everyone's awe and aestetics n -

MorganI would love to see a Grocer added to the game as part of the Food tab. It could be a 2x2 or 2x3 footprint with mirrored entrance options, employ 4 beavers to act as haulers/stockers, and improve the overall well-being score of the settlement. It would only carry finished beaver-food goods (bread and maple pastries, but not wheat or maple syrup, for example), and water. Maybe it could also give a boost to the beavers' socialization or comfort.

Lacey MergedAdd to Well-Being a "Market" where Haulers can bring all the food types so Beavers can get their food in one place. An advanced is a Bazaar that sells goods and food and allows for dining-in. A Pub could be a food-only dining-in option. It would only allow for advanced foods that require a chef. (Here seems like an ideal place to add for a drink option too, like juice.)
I'd start with food stands and that is where food is gotten for consumption rather than warehouses (which would now just be for the storing of goods). Then to Markets that give quality-of-life bonuses. Bazaars combine goods (clothes, tool belts, treasures, etc) with food and dining-in.
This also allows for new jobs like shop-keepers, goods makers, chefs.

James MergedSomething like the market in Banished and other games. A place that be be used as a central feature of a housing area that stores a small/medium amount of all the different consumables beavers want. It would all allow for prettier housing areas instead of having a bunch of warehouses close by. Warehouses can be moved the the outskirts and market workers can bring in the items.

RickLove this idea. In late game, I have bots doing everything work related. Beavers are all lounging in rooftop pools, etc. Would be sweet to have some sort of casual place that would fit that environment and provide access to all food stuffs in district. Maybe add a flag to warehouses allowing players to disable non-hauler access to food warehouses once food bar exists.
Maybe combine with bot only paths and keep beavers in recreation areas only. -

Liam Andersen MergedA workplace that delivers food and water to beavers so that they dont have to stop working, Kinda like Uber Eeats
Or dedicated buildings where the beavers go to eat, thefood market can have dedicated beavers that restock it.

NobodyThis is more relevant now since warehouses started storing only one item, it be great if multiple edible food types were stored in one building.

Nath AbrahamAbsolutely love the idea of this one. As well as it being useful for gameplay I believe this and add a lot to the immersion. The feeling of beaver culture and community; that the settlements we build in the game aren't solely logistical, but are also places the beavers enjoy. It also gives more separation and motive to really get towards bots, so your beavers can enjoy themselves.
