Dam life: wild life returns to irrigated lands, biodiversity metric for map, ambient animals, fauna
Beavers are known IRL for creating ecosystems, see video at end. So why not make that one of the goals of the game. To bring none beaver life to an area. The first would be fish and turtles which don't do anything. In fact you don't see the fish, but turtles some times rest on land near water.
After that the life is as follows based on what you have done with the area.
1. large amounts of water on map during drought, returns water birds. Swans nest on roof decor adding Awe one to it.
2. large amounts of living maple: Woodpeckers come back, these speed up tree growth, though nested trees can't be harvested (will not nest closer then 5 blocks from each other.)
3. Deer return with a large amount of berries on map, can be tamed by haulers to carry a lot of an item at a time.
4. ravens nest, metal structures are built see: https://timberborn.featureupvote.com/suggestions/221744/idea-ravens-of-winds for their idea.

Gin Fuyou AdminThat now sounds totally Terra Nil, I don't think it should be a goal (at least general, fine for scenarios or achievements) for Timberborn, but certainly I would love to see some mechanic like that.

warbrand2More a way to expand function, as you bring back life to the map, more options are open for you and bonuses are given. This is more to encourage people to spread out instead of one district.

Gauron MergedI think it would be a great addition for the game to have somekind of life present in existance apart from the usual trees and blueberry everywhere.
My suggestion would be to create aquatic life which comes and goes along with some passively existing wildlife for example:
Fishes: Food source which slowly moves down the river from the start to the end point
Birds: Mostly eyecandy but could be decorative too
Water weeds: They dry out in the drought giving some low level food and respawn when its over. -

Neil Madden MergedAdd 'biodiversity' stat for map that raises as map becomes more green & sustainable with beaver developments. Could be backed up with a few graphics, birds/fish/other mammals. In future, missions could be set to reach certain levels on the biodiversity stat.

DataDoes sound very totally Terra Nil! :)
Personallly, this sounds it could be potentially one of many goals for for an "end game" (well a visual represenation of achieving X, Y and Z)? -

BirdSTRONG support! At minimum it would be really nice to see other animal life in-game, even if it's purely cosmetic

Daniël MergedI'd love to see some butterflies flying around, or birds moving into and out of trees. Just ambient, no functionality. Maybe one or two random bees.

CaddrelWildlife or different plant/bird/fish/animal species could migrate from off-map if the right conditions and habitats are created. Could definitely be a series of side goals at the least.
Looking at all the civil / river engineering that goes into salmon migration, it could definitely tie into a lot of what players are already doing in the game. -

Sku MergedTo add more ambient life and pretty visuals to the game, it would be awesome to see fish in the rivers and ponds and such, and to see birds and butterflies around the crops or in the trees and shrubs.

Elpidio Davide MergedIt would be nice if there was a fauna to interact with. For example, moles that eat vegetables, birds that eat berries or wild boars that eat potatoes. This would lead to trying to defend themselves with new structures or workers such as hawks to scare the birds, fences to prevent wild boars from entering.

Albert Mergedthere is not much visual difference between mid-ultra gfx. But adding some "life" and visual interest like fish, birds, butterflies etc could give some visual interest to the game

Ruth MergedI would like to see more wild fauna and flora in areas of the map the beavers are not using, especially in areas that are watered [perhaps a few lizards or birds elsewhere?]
As an example of what I mean see the game Anno 2070 where non-built-up areas have small animals, waving grasses and trees and more. Photo attached as example.
It would be a lovely thing, in particular, where when the beavers green a new area and as a result a "desert bloom" happened (from seeds blown/dropped in the years before). -

Sönke Merged* fishies, birdies, bunnies, ...
* garden gnomes/beavers
* atmospheric perspective
* fluffy grass (peach fuzz like), ivy growth, flowers, tree leaves flying around
* autumn, winter, spring, summer
* dirt+smelter = glasblock -

PlasmaStruckI like that but would want to be able to see fish swimming around if fair. Small fish could be mostly just a particle of a school or something, with some large ones being individual models.
Would be nice for a reservoir to start showing lots of life. Maybe even some underwater plants or corals could grow after awhile too of sustained water. Lily pads and algae on the surface? Really showing the world recovering while making your reservoirs beautiful. -

Koriil MergedNow we have only beavers and bees (from folktails' hives). So the environment looks cosy, but a bit... Empty.
1. Dragonflies and frogs. They could look so cool around spadder-docks. Just randomly appearing here and there, for decoration only.
2. Birds. Little feathered bros to keep caterpillars and bark beetles away from our precious trees! A birdhouse could be a building, that works similar to a hive, boosting tree growth. In my imagination, the birdhouse: 1. Speeds up growth only by a small amount, around 10% of days rounded, for example: birch (7 days -> 6 days), pine (12->11), oak (30->27). The fair balance could also be achieved by increasing/decreasing affected area. 2. It is a mid-game building, requiring treated planks.
Birds also could be just a decorative element, emerging randomly here and there.
3. Squirrels. Maybe they could just sometimes appear on the trees. Maybe they could help gatherers and farmers.
4. Fireflies, emerging at night. -

beetfarmer_dks MergedInsects and birds start to appear once the beavers rehydrate the dried out landscape, re-route/remove bad water from the environment. Trees that aren't chopped down for wood provide living space for animals. This could provide the option to create park/recreational areas with forests giving bonuses on mood. Add flower pots for decoration and harvestable flower plants to make presents, like the consumable books.
