Change river bottom texture from grass to something else - more realistic riverbed

  Currently, any tile that is near (or under) water turns green with grass. It doesn't quite make sense grass to be growing underwater however, and it can make things a bit confusing sometimes when the 'water transparency' mode is on. Perhaps it would be better if underwater tiles looked muddy instead of green?
  
  Mechanically, this could possibly tie into a 'hydration' system, where it takes time for the ground to gain or lose water instead of it being instant. You could have the growth speed of crops depend on how 'hydrated' the land on it is.

  First thing I didn't noticed until a few minutes in was the river.
  There is grass on the bottom!
  Please make the riviers look and feel more real - fish, white water, muddy bottom.
  Love when it gets dried and cracked...

  The divide between the bright green grass and the dark brown of the planted underwater crops is pretty stark. You could add a function where if the water is deep enough for spadderdock then it changes the ground underneath to a riverbed color between the green and the crop field brown.

  The bright green grass that is used for both the area surrounding the water & the land underneath just doesn't make sense. The land under the water should be a mossy layer of mud, there's no reason why your law should be two meters under the surface & completely intact.
  
  This shouldn't be the main focus of the devs but I just wanted to point it out.

  Would be a nice addition for som extra visuals if grass turned in to mud if under water for extended periods. Could make it so that it had to be "dry" but irrigated for a coupple of days to turn back into grass.

  Right now there are two terrain textures. Green for watered and Desolate dried out. (with Contamination special effects). What if, area's submerged in Water had a third texture, sandy maybe with some rocky textures? A texture that fades in and out just like the Green grassy color!

  Don't you think its a bit odd that the terrain under water is grass? every lake or ocean i have been to either has sand or seaweed on the bottom, not grass. So i think there should be a different texture for terrain that is submerged. maybe it only turns to sand after water has been on it for a certain amount of time, but i think it would improve the look of the game and be more realistic.

  Dirt blocks that are or were recently underwater should have a muddy brown texture, the same way watered blocks have a grassy one. That will make the riverbeds look more realistic when the water is low or they recently dried out.

  I think that rivers and lakes should have different textures as opposed to grass. Perhaps a sandy or gravelly one? I think it would be determined by prolonged water-coverage and that the texture would take a long time to go away.
